Linda Albanesi, 87, shop saleswoman

Linda Albanesi, a saleswoman at two Main Street shops in her nearly 30 years in Ridgefield, died June 10 in Daytona Beach, Fla. She was 87 and the widow of Raymond Albanesi. Her three children include Evelyn Glowinski of Ramapoo Road.
A Ridgefielder from 1946 to 1973, when she moved to Florida, Mrs. Albanesi worked in town for DeLuca Shoes and at the Cortina Shop for many years. She lived on Ramapoo Road with her husband, an upholsterer with a shop on Catoonah Street.
“She loved people. She was a born salesperson,” said her daughter, Mrs. Glowinski. “She loved working in DeLuca’s and loved working in The Cortina Shop — a lot of friends here in town.”
She was born in Italy in 1914, daughter of Martin and Yolanda Ubaldo. The family moved to the United States when she was very young, and she grew up in Queens, N.Y.
“They lived in the country, Queens was the country,” her daughter said.
She married Raymond Albanesi in 1938, and they lived in Flushing, Queens, until moving to Ridgefield after the war. The family attended St. Mary’s Church in Ridgefield. Her husband died in 1980.
“She lived a nice long life,” her daughter said. “She enjoyed it.”
Besides her daughter from Ridgefield and her husband, John Glowinski, she is survived by: a son, Raymond Albanesi, and his wife Janet of Danbury; and another daughter, Patricia Forkin, and her husband James, of Daytona Beach, Fla. She is also survived by six grandchildren, including Michael Glowinski of Ramapoo Road and former Ridgefielder Tamara Glowinski Rauch of Basalt, Colo. She also leaves three great-grandchildren.
She will be buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Plans for a memorial service will be announced.
