J. Brayton Fogerty, marketing expert

J. Brayton Fogerty Jr. of Ridgefield, a marketing executive, died on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Danbury Hospital. He was 72 years old and the husband of Susan Fogerty.

Mr. Fogerty was born on Feb. 15, 1933 in New York City, the son of J. Brayton Fogerty Sr. and Rose Finnegan Fogerty. He was educated at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School and Iona College and served in combat in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was the founder of Fogerty, Farley and Associates, a worldwide marketing company, and was actively engaged in his business at the time of his death.

“His passion for golf was well known at Salem Golf Club where he was a member since 1969 and served as president for many, many years,” his family said.

Besides his wife, Mr. Forgerty is survived by his six children, J. Brayton Fogerty III and his partner, Michele Tayler, of Redding, William Fogerty and his wife, Nancy, of Alpharetta, Ga., Margaret Rattigan and her husband, James, of West Hartford, Stephen Fogerty and his wife, Diane, of Wilton,  Susan Griffith and her husband, Robert, of Niskayuna, N.Y., Elizabeth Bell and her husband, Ryan, of Hoboken, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Caitlin and Kelly Fogerty, Peter Fulton, Susan Mae and Thomas Rattigan, Erin and Dennis Fogerty, and Claire, Maura and Emma Griffith; and four of his six siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday in St. Mary’s Church.

Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Contributions in Mr. Fogerty’s memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 90 East Ridge, or to the Ridgefield Fire Department Ambulance Fund, 6 Catoonah Street, both of Ridgefield 06877.
