Vera Grosso,
former Ridgefielder
Vera A. Spinaci Montanari Grosso, 84, of Bethel, the sister of three Ridgefielders, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Rocco J. Grosso.
Born in New London in 1921, she grew up in Ridgefield
and graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1940. She was the daughter of
Catterina Montanari and Gino Spinaci.
Along with her late husband, she established the
Grosso Oil Company, which remained the family business for 50 years. Mrs.
Grosso and her husband traveled extensively and had a winter home in Cape
Coral, Fla.
Mrs. Grosso is survived by her son, Daniel, of
Bethel; her daughter, Terri Rotella, and her husband Frank of Bethel; two
grandsons; and three brothers, Frank Montanari, Fred Montanari and Andy
Montanari, all of Ridgefield. Another brother, Gus Montanari, died before her.
She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St.
Mary’s Church, Bethel, on June 29. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bethel.
Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, handled the arrangements.
